It's Raining in our Bedroom!

Now that the weather has turned cool and rainy, the humidity in the house has go up so much that there is condensation on the ceiling in our bedroom and en-suite bathroom and it is dripping = raining inside!

We have discovered a couple of problems with the new house the humidity is due to a lack of fresh air being drawn into the house when the furnace is running. We have discovered that there is an air intake valve/vent but it is not wired. The wire was found hanging in a bundle behind some drywall in the basement. We now have cut a hole in the ceiling of the basement to expose the valve/vent and wire it properly. We have a furnace company coming to wire the furnace so when the furnace comes on it opens the valve/vent and draw in fresh air for circulation through out the house. We are thinking this will take care of our humidity issue.

The next problem was the condensation in our bedroom/en-suite. Why is it only an 18' strip along one side of our room (this is an outside wall too).
Scott borrowed an infrared camera to see why we have condensation in this area only.
As the photos show we have a very cold area in our ceiling.
Scott cut a hole in the plywood in the attic of the house into this area above our room and has discovered that the entire area is missing insulation. The way the house was built the main roof was done and covered in plywood then the dormer above our master bedroom/ens-suite was then built on top of this already plywood covered roof. Then when the insulation was blown in it couldn't reach into the open area above the dormer.
I still can't believe no one found this out yet, I am sure that room must have been so cold during the winters for the last 10 years.
We have fixed it though, we brought in a contractor that insulated that area fully with blown in insulation. We now don't have any rain in our room.
The dark colour means it is cold!
