We Finally Made it to Halifax!!!

I'm not sure if everyone is aware but the company has decided to brew Alexander Keith's here in Creston to serve the market in western Canada. The company has been making sure Scott brews Keith's correctly here in Creston, they even started a blog about the process.
This is the reason WE FINALLY MADE IT TO HALIFAX!! Scott had to go out there to "learn how to brew the beer" so I tagged along for the ride (just so I could check out the city that almost became our home 2 years ago).
We flew out on Thursday April 24, arriving in the evening. Scott had to work all day Friday (but I did get to meet the work crew for lunch and join them on a tour of the brewery later on that evening. Friday night we got to meet up with friends that Scott went to university with for dinner. While Scott was working I got to check out the Harbour front, there was beautiful sunshine!! (I am assured that is an unusual occurrence)
Saturday was free so we could do what we want. Scott and I walked the harbour front, taking photos and checking out Pier 21. We met up with a friend for lunch, Jill had just been transferred from Creston to Halifax within the last couple of months. After lunch she drove us out to Peggy's Cove. Sunday morning Scott toured the brewery and I got to sleep in. The afternoon, we spent at the Atlantic Maritime Museum. We both were very interested in the exhibits about the Halifax explosion and the role Halifax played in recovering bodies from the Titanic. That evening we got to join the Halifax brew master at his home for a BBQ, it was great as he was in Creston several years ago, and we got to catch up.

Sunday 27th early in the morning we flew home to Calgary, where we were greeted with below freezing temperatures and a snow fall warning for our drive home... yuck!
A view of an island in the harbour (I can't remember what the name was but it was used as a prison for the Acadians)

Pier 21 - We choose not to go in as it was such a beautiful morning and we wanted to spend it out side

A view of the harbor with Dartmouth across the water. We tried to go to the Citdal but it was closed, but we walked all the way around to check out the views.

Scott had to check out this bar, it is owned by the guy who plays Bubbles on the Trailer Park Boys

Easter Weekend in Sorrento

We got to spend the Easter long week in Sorrento at Scott's parent's new place. They have a huge yard with lots of fruit trees. The pruning was already done before we arrived, but we got to help out with the clean up.

Weekend in Panorama

Seven of us from Creston and one from Edmonton met up for a ski weekend in Panorama. The brewery had gotten some free lift tickets, and no one had used them up yet this winter, so we decided to go for one of the last weekends of the season. We also got an amazing deal on condos, we got 2, two bedroom condos right at the base of the mountain, so the eight of us got to spend the weekend in luxury for only about 125$ a person (including food) for the whole weekend.

Saturday was cloudy but with 15 cm of fresh snow, the conditions were phenomenal
