New Paint

After lots of debate and discussion we finally decided on paint colours.
We hired a guy I know from work who use to paint professionally and was totally willing to work with our crazy lives. So a few days later we have the entry way completely finished and the living and dining areas of the common room done. We are headed away to Vancouver for Thanks Giving so we are leaving the painter a key to the house and we will come home to a freshly painted home!

The dark grey I got custom tinted for the entry way - I love it!
It is a bit hard to tell in this photo but the light grey for the rest of the house really it lighter, the lighting by the front window makes it look almost the same shade as the entry way.

Leaving the house prepped for the painter, all the stuff off the shelves in the kitchen area and the curtains not back up yet by the back door. You can really see the yellow-tan colour we originally had - definitely done with that yellow colour

Of course just a cute photo of Elyse "helping" me wash dishes!

A Visit from Grandma and a Wedding

Elyse and I got to go to Fruitvale to pick up my mom, who was visiting her friend Tina. Elyse loved the horses that Tina has, and was quite brave petting their noses and giving them treats. Having my mom visit for the weekend was great timing, as Scott and I had a wedding to attend to and who better to watch Elyse, than her Grandma.

On our way to the ceremony site. A beautiful place to get married, right beside the creek!

Highway Going to the Sun

We decided to head to Glacier National Park in Montana this weekend, to check out a road called "Highway Going to the Sun". It is closed from the end of September until they can get the snow cleared off of it in the Spring... Usually around mid to late June.

We drove Saturday afternoon to Whitefish Montana, and then entered Glacier Park, Sunday morning, once over the pass we entered into Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada. We cross back over the boarder at a crossing that is only open June - Sept. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, south of Pincher Creek Alberta. Once back in Canada we headed back west on highway 3 through the Crow's Nest Pass and back to BC.

The views were amazing through Glacier Park, it was very smoky due to forest fires in the US, and the photos just don't capture the moment. Scott and I are already planning a return trip to do a bunch more of the hikes available around the park.
Heading into Montana, the drive to White Fish was only about 3 hours from our place

We stopped just out side of Libby to check out the Kootenay River - there is a few water falls here that are worth the stop

The trail to the water falls, about a 15 minute walk

The Kootenay River - it is so different here compared to when it comes through the Creston Valley

Scott and Elyse on the suspension bridge - self regulated, 5 people allowed on it at a time and free!

The suspension bridge - the river is such a beautiful green here, not like the ugly brown in Creston

Sunday morning headed in to Glacier National Park's West Entrance

They have these really cool vehicles used in the park as shuttles and tours (Red Buses or Red Jammers) - they have stop points all over and the canvas tops roll back so you get a great view of the park

McDonald Creek a short stop before we head up to the pass

Elyse and I stopping for a break on one of the short hikes we did

Some of the view from the highway - you can see how much smoke was in the air

One of the glaciers in Glacier National Park

A view of where we were, the highway and McDonald Creek in the valley bottom

A Red Jammer on the Highway

A look back at where we were when we took the photo above of the Red Jammer

The visitor center at the top of Logan Pass was crazy busy and we couldn't find parking we continued on down the other side of the pass and stopped for lunch at Lunch Creek

A neat view when we stopped for lunch at Lunch Creek

No picnic tables but a small rock wall we used for our picnic lunch

It is tough looking at all the sights out the window and all the little hikes we did - time for a nap
Almost back into Alberta and Waterton Lakes National Park - Chief Mountian, along with lots of smoke

Budweiser Big Rig Picnic

It was announce today that the brewery here in Creston will being to brew Budweiser. This is a great opportunity for Scott to implement all of the capital that will be needed in order for them to brew Bud. It is going to be a very busy year coming up!

The Brewery held a family picnic day and they brought in the Budweiser Big Rig to help celebrate the news.
The Big Rig!

Hard to get the whole thing in one photo, the trailer has both a bar and a BBQ area, there is a hug lower deck with 3 different stair cases down and also a deck on top!

Scott Loves the Bud Big Rig!!

More from our time at the lake

Andrea almost up on the water skis - she tried so hard every day that we could get out on the water. She was up and out of the water a few times, just didn't quite find her balance point. Next year....

Scott's mom enjoying the glass calm water, finally!

Scott's dad slalom skiing

Scott and Elyse out for a paddle on wind surf board with out the sail

We use the wind surf board for a stand up paddle board - a bit tricky but do-able
Elyse love the Dragon flys

Elyse loved to use the tubes as trampolines!

All the fun time on the beach, time for a nap
