Elyse on Skis

We don't have much snow here in the valley, but Scott shoveled the drive way and made a little ski run for Elyse to try out her new skis. Surprisingly our yard is a little too steep for her to learn on, we basically need a flat area for her to play around on.

Walking around, trying out her new ski boots

Grandpa and Dad helping her get into her skis

Limp Noodle is what was going on here, she wouldn't stand on her own, but let Scott support her under her arms

She is actually smiling and laughing here, I guess her first time on skis was a success!

My turn to help out, still a bit of limp nooding, but not as much when I was hanging onto just her hands

Santa Has Arrived

Christmas Eve

This Christmas Eve, I had to work a night shift. But Scott was very good about sending me photos of all the goings on around the house. We hosted an open house appetizer potluck in the afternoon before I left for work, so I could enjoy some of the excitement of Christmas Eve. I don't think Elyse quite got that Santa was coming, but Scott said that as the evening went on she knew something was up and started to get excited, and started to run around like a crazy kid.

Making Cookies with Grandma

Last year (Helping Make Cookies 2010) Elyse helped me make cookies by playing with the measuring cups and licking the mixers. This year, she helped by cutting the cookies out with cookie cutters and of course decorating the cookies.
She was very precise in where the decorations went on the cookies, even lining up 3 of the same coloured smarties!

Decorating the cookies

Elyse's Hair Cut

Elyse has started refusing to sit still while I trim her bangs. So, I booked her in at the hair dressers for a trim. Grandma and Grandpa came along. Elyse wasn't so sure about the whole process and clung onto Grandma (surprisingly not me!). After a little bit, and a cookie, she settled down and let the girl trim her bangs for her.

Still snuggling, but the hair cut continues

Count Down to Christmas

I got these advent stockings last year, and filled them with Chocolate for Scott and I, but this year I needed to find something for Elyse too!
I found 24 small wood ornaments that fit nicely into each stocking, one day at Extra Foods. So I stuffed the stockings with chocolate for Scott and I and the cute little ornaments for Elyse. Elyse has been decorating her own tree since December 1st.

The little wooden ornaments fit great into the top of the stockings

With the left over branches from our tree and some twist ties I made a great wreath for our front door
