Pigeon Lake

We took a day trip down to Pigeon Lake. To check out the lake and a Provincial Park. We have a campsite reserved there for the last weekend in June. We were quite impressed with the lake, as it was big compared to other lakes we have been at here in Alberta. The only thing was the bugs!!! Thank goodness they weren't biting bugs, but there were swarms of them. See the nice sky photo below, each little black dot is a bug.... yuck! We found out at the end of the day that they were called Fish Flys and they hatch and only live for a 2 week period in the spring. So they will be gone by the time we go back to camp at the end of June.

Backyard Fun

3 days after the huge snow fall we are enjoying having dinner on the back deck and the girls are playing with the last little bit of snow.

27 cm Snowfall

We have had beautiful weather, above seasonal normal temperatures and hardly any rain. This morning proved to be much different!
I measured 27 cm on our back deck before it got warmer and started to compact down.
The afternoon turned out to be beautiful. The girls loved having snow in in May. We made a snow fort out of the snow I shoveled off the back deck.

Brynn and I walk Elyse to school every morning, with the stroller. And we did again this morning. I think this was the most snow we had accumulated on the stroller yet this school year. Brynn is in there somewhere! Maybe I should submit this to Mountain Equipment Co-0p, to show how awesome their bike trailer with converted jogging front wheel attachment is....
There she is!

27 cm and the snow is still falling! We must have been in a localized area of snow fall as Scott said they didn't get nearly this amount at the Brewery
Some flowers in the back garden. Monday we were at Elyse's soccer game with tee shirts on... Today soccer was cancelled due to snow on the fields

The girls in their snow fort
As it was really wet snow and they didn't want wet bums; the girls took breaks from playing by sitting on their lawn chairs

River Valley Clean Up

The brewery likes to be involved in the community and give back. They always get a team together to volunteer and do spring clean up. This year we were able to go and help out. This was our second time joining in, we helped 2 years ago but couldn't last year as we were in Hawaii.
The park that we helped clean up was in the river valley just south of downtown called Walterdale.
The girls loved "helping" us pick garbage but mostly they loved the playground.
The Edmonton Journal was there doing a story and interviewed us and took quite a few photos of us.
We even made the paper. This is the link to the online story, when on the site there is a small tab to switch to see the photos. There are alot of Scott and I and the girls: Edmonton Journal Story
