Watermelon Cupcakes

Scott's mom brought a Watermelon Cupcake mix and the matching icing so that she and Elyse could make cupcakes. There just wasn't time while they were here, so today it is raining a bit and the house is cooler and we can have the oven on.

Wow, the batter is pink! and it smells like watermelon! The little flecks (like watermelon seeds) in
the batter are little bits of watermelon flavoured Jolly Rancher!

Elyse loved the idea of watermelon cupcakes that she drew a picture of them, while we waited for them to bake

They are out of the oven, now to wait until they are cool so we can ice them.

Camping at Pigeon Lake June 26-28, 2015

Scott's Mom and Dad had some warranty work to have done on their travel trailer they purchased in Wetaskawin this past November. They dropped the trailer off at the dealership and came to spend the rest of the week with us. They picked their trailer up on Friday and we all met up at Pigeon Lake Provincial Park for a great weekend of camping.

We picked a great weekend to go camping, it was 30 C. Very easy to deal with the heat when you are at the lake.

We had our boat at the lake and Scott's Mom & Dad's kayaks.

Dress-Shirt Dress

I saw a really cute idea on Pinterest, on how to make a little girls dress from a men's dress-shirt.

I found a couple of shirts at the local Value Village, a purple one for Elyse and a pink one for Brynn.

I made a tissue paper pattern by using one of Elyse's dresses

The dress turned out a bit long, as I was working around a couple

 of darts in the back panel of the shirt

Elyse is quite the model.

The pink dress shirt I got to make Brynn's dress was absconded with by Scott.
It ended up fitting him really well, so I have to plan another trip to Value Village for another shirt.

Front Porch Painting

The front porch railing and post were in need of some paint. The paint was peeling off in quite a few spots. The corner rounds on the post also were becoming unattached. We ended up buying two new pieces. I did a whole bunch of pressure washing and a bit of light sanding and then a final rinse. Then a few days later once it was completely dry, I painted.

These are a couple of photos of the post on the front porch. 

It was getting very weathered and needed a paint touch up. 

I didn't want to bother trying to match the paint that was on the post so I decided to paint it white to match the railings. I got 2 coats on all the railings and the post in one day. It wasn't too hot, but there was quite the breeze to help the drying process.

Timbits Soccer Tournament

Elyse's soccer team participated in a soccer tournament.

It is too bad that it was so cold and raining, but all the kids had a lot of fun.

Girls in the Pool

We have been having amazing weather this spring, today it is so warm that the girls are outside in the pool!

Brewery Family BBQ and FIFA Women's Soccer

The Brewery held a Family BBQ. There was a couple of inflatables set up for the kids to enjoy. The girls loved the one with the slide the best. Scott was responsible for setting up tours for the family and friends in attendance. This brewery is completely different from the Creston Brewery, there is no established tour program or tour route.
The girls loved the tour, the both wore their safety glasses and ear protection for the whole time. I thought I would have duck out early with Brynn.

After the Brewery BBQ, Scott and Elyse took the LRT to Commonwealth Stadium to watch the Canadian women's team play China in the opening game of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015.

They had amazing seats, almost front row.

New Bike Helmet and Jessica Visits Again!

I got a new bike helmet for my birthday. Elyse and I posed for a photo on our way to her soccer game.

Jessica the Red Panda (Elyse's Class Pet) came to visit us again.
