Easter in Jasper March 26 & 27, 2016

We headed to Jasper this weekend with our friends Brad and Karen.
We have done a couple of ski trips with them before. This was our first opportunity to go, where all our calendars were free. We had a great time,
Brynn loves the on hill daycare and Elyse loved having the morning in ski lessons and the afternoon with us. Of course the Easter Bunny found us in the hotel room and left eggs all over the place and their girls baskets full of treats.
A beautiful day at Marmot

We got Elyse all the way to the top a couple of times
Ready for the egg hunt

An afternoon break at the mid-mountain lodge
Elyse was so excited to have an ice cream, and a hot chocolate!
Once we got home the girls got to open their gift bags from Grandma and Grandpa.

Dying Easter Eggs

I saw this idea on Pintrest.... ha ha now you know where this is going!
The idea of using shaving cream and food dye to make marbleized coloured eggs turned out, OK.
We had a lot of colour on our fingers and next time I would use gel food colouring instead to make the colour darker and more noticeable.
The girls had a lot of fun
A pan of shaving cream and swirled food colouring

They were so proud of their eggs!

Brynn's First Time at the Dentist

Brynn had her first ever check up at the dentist today. She did amazing! She held so still and let them clean her teeth, and do an exam. The report; no problems and keep on doing what we do.

Snow This Year...

I have been making it a tradition to take an early spring photo with Elyse on the back deck, since we moved to Edmonton.
It has been amazing the difference in the amount of snow we have had since our first year here.

Brynn's Fan

Brynn this year asked for a "fan" for her birthday.
With lots of questioning it was discovered this was the type of fan she wanted.
I got it all set up for her this afternoon; and she is in love with it!
Who knew a fan could make a little girl so happy!

A Visit From Grandma and Grandpa

Scott's Mom and Dad came for a quick visit to help us celebrate Brynn's birthday.
Everyone loaded up in their Highlander to go and see an Oil Kings Game
Lots of bubble fun with Grandma in the backyard

Happy 3rd Birthday Brynn!

We held a family party this evening to celebrate Brynn's 3rd Birthday.

Elyse got Brynn an umbrella just like hers and it was a hit!

While we were together in Hawaii with Scott's Mom and Dad. Scott's mom was asking Brynn what she would like for her Birthday. Brynn's response was a "fan". Upon further questioning and re-questioning, this is the type of fan she wanted. And she was very excited to get it for her birthday.
Brynn and her fan!

Great Grandma and Papa sent a card and some cash for Brynn's birthday. At first she really didn't know what to think of this green and blue paper! But after we explained that she could take the money to the toy story and buy something she really wanted, she was very excited and even gave the money a hug!!

Brynn's Birthday Party

It's hard to believe that Brynn is turning 3 today. I really don't know where the time went, this means that we have been in Edmonton for 3 years already!
We had a few kids from the cul d'sac and a couple of families that we are friendly with from Elyse's playschool/kindergarten classes.
Brynn's request this year was a beach party, maybe it was because we started planning her party before we left to go to Hawaii, but it was a really easy party to put together. We asked all our guests to dress up in summer beach wear and gave all the kids when they came in a pair of sunglasses!
Palm trees, sunglasses, flip flops, and hibiscus flowers, very tropical and beachy!
The dessert we served little water and beaches - the mini umbrellas were a hit with the kids
Decorating mini-sand buckets - Brynn loves her "sunnies"
Lots of creative ideas

One of the games we played. Toss the beach ball from one team with a beach towel to another team with a beach towel

Brynn's turn hitting the flip flop pinata

Now it is Elyse's
We ended up just ripping the pinata so the kids could get their candy and treats
