Another Thursday after work...

We spent another great Thursday evening out on the boat with friends. It has been very easy for Scott to get out of work around 4:30, and we head down to the Kootenay River to have some fun with friends. It seems that it is our thing to do on a Thursday. The sun dips behind the mountains earlier and earlier, but it makes for a spectacular view of the sun on the mountains across the valley, check out the photo of our friend Terry wake boarding.

A few more cute photos of Elyse

Elyse was interested in our "Tupperware" cupboard - we usually have it locked up because most of our storage containers are glass, but I took out a few items for her to play with. This is a collapsible colander. I think we have a photo of Scott wearing this on his head too! (now I just need to find it and post it)

My mom made Elyse a bonnet to help keep the sun off of her. She sure is a ham for the camera.

Another Weekend on the Lake - July 24 & 25

We spent another amazing weekend on Kootenay lake this weekend. Saturday was just Elyse, Scott and I on the boat, but Sunday we had a few friends from work join us for some water fun.

Camping in Osoyoos July 17-19, 2010

We joined my Auntie Nur, Uncle John and cousin Andrea in for an extended weekend of camping in Osoyoos. Elyse got to sleep in a tent for the first time, and she did great! We also brought the boat and everyone got a chance to try out water skiing. Here are a bunch of photos of the weekend, lots of them are from Auntie Nur's camera.

Hanging out after breakfast, getting ready to go out on the boat.
Elyse enjoying her new toy, the "alphabcus" - the best word we could come up with. It has all the letters of the alphabet with photos on the back that spin on a wooden dowel, they don't slide like an abacus does but close enough...
Relaxing after a day of boating
More relaxing in the zero gravity chairs

- She still loves to make raspberries

- Elyse is chatting up a storm in her own language

- She still has no teeth or even signs of them, the drooling , gnawing on things comes and goes

- Some more foods that she got to try this month are: Sweet Potatoes, Water Melon, Apricots, Bananas, Avacados, Butternut Squash, Peaches, Tofu, Sand/Dirt and Grass!

- Some other firsts for Elyse this past month were:
Her first mosquito bite

A visit to Midge Creek

We got to spend another day on the lake with a few friends. We decided to check out Midge Creek Provincial Park on the west shore of Kootenay Lake. The park has great sandy beaches, a huge benefit as most of the lake has rocky shores. We set up on the beach to hang out, have lunch and do a little bit of wake boarding...

Elyse loved the sand. She kept letting it run through her hands and of course she just had to have a mouth full of it!

Our afternoon ended very quickly as a huge storm blew up. Kootenay Lake is notorious for huge storms blowing in and making the lake very choppy. We know friends that have gotten stuck across the lake at Midge Creek, because the lake was too rough to cross back to the marina.

You can't even see the mountians in the background any more, and check out the white caps on those waves!

Boating After Work

It is finally summer! With this most recent heat wave we thought it might be nice to go boating afterwork to cool off. The Kootenay River is only a 5 minute drive from our home, so it is nice and easy to put the boat in the water after work. We took a couple of friends along for the fun.

Long Weekend...... Crappy Weather :-(

You can probably tell by how many posts I've done in the last 2 days that we haven't been up to much this weekend.  Friday it absolutley poured rain all day.  Saturday and Sunday were overcast and cool.  One the plus side, we got a lot of stuff done around the house, so when the good weather comes we have nothing to do but enjoy it!

Canada Day!

Today is Canada Day, so Elyse wore her patriotic shirt.  Scott came home from work early and we sat out on the patio.  We went down to the fireworks, but Elyse was ready for bed before they were done.  We were able to see the end as we walked home.
