House Hunting in Edmonton

We spent the week of January 14-19th in Edmonton, searching for a new home for us.
Here are some of the highlights of our week.
We got spoiled with the weather, it was up to +8 and fairly mild all week, but Sunday morning it was -28, a nice taste of what is to come when we come to live here.
Elyse loved house hunting with us, she was so keen on checking out all the rooms
We did put an offer in on this place mid-week but couldn't come to an agree upon price

Visiting friends that live here in Edmonton - Elyse loved Nora!
We both loved this home, but wished it could have been located some where different - a postage size lot, no yard, higher density housing around, so no parking on the street for visitors and the train tracks ran behind the house next door

This is for Auntie Nur... we viewed a home with a great Turkish family who lived there.
(Grandma and little boy were home at the time we visited).
I loved the evil-eye wooden shoes they had hanging on the wall!

This is the house we ended up buying. It is in the West/South part of the city in a neighborhood called the Hamptons. It was actually the 2nd house we looked at during our week of hunting. The 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms are upstairs, with Living/Dining/Kitchen and a half bath on the main floor and a full unfinished basement.

We love the fenced back yard, and the fact that it is a corner lot. We are thinking that we will break a hole in the fence and put in a gate and then slip the boat into the back yard... we will see if it works

The kitchen/dining area is pretty basic - not a real piece of wood in the whole thing, gotta love laminate and fake-wood paneling/stickers. Not our dream home but we have a few plans and it will be very comfortable for our family

Living room - we love that it has a gas fire place in the corner and it fairly open to the kitchen/dining areas

Elyse's new room, I think she is going to love the window seat
New baby's room - now to see if it we are going add pink or blue accents!
Master bed room, with en-suite - Scott definitely doesn't like the blue walls, but I'm ok with it for now
