A Sewing Project

Stay tuned for the update from Leanne on this one......
* I found a web site with a short tutorial on how to make a little girls dress out of old tee-shirts. So I had to give it a try!! (while my mom was down visiting of course, because her advice while the project was going on was invaluable. I couldn't have done it with out her)
Here is the website link that I used:
http://creatingbycami.blogspot.ca/2011/03/business-in-front-party-in-back.html
All the tee-shirts I used - I think I got all of them at the local second hand store for a couple of dollars

I used an other dress of Elyse's to make a basic pattern for the dress - it was pretty free form doing this project

I make strips from the tee shirts and then ruffled them by hand, then sewed them on to the back part of the skirt

The back all ruffled up and the outer skirt ready to get put onto the bodice

The bodice and sleeves ready to go

All ready to go!

Elyse loves the dress! I think I will have to add a waist band of the dark burgundy colour to give the waist of the dress some shape, also it is a bit big on Elyse, so this fall it will fit great!

Elyse got these great mittens from our friend Tina in Fruit Vale.  They are go all the way up to her elbows, so when she wears them in the snow, the snow won't get on/in to her wrists
