A week at the Lake: Aug 16 - 23

We had a great time at the lake this past week. One of the advantages of being involved in Girl Guides is I have the opportunity to rent the Guide Camp on Kootenay Lake for a week at a time during the summer (same place that we rented last fall for the wedding). Scott's mom and dad came down to join us camping for the week, and of course lots of friends from town came up for either a day on the beach or to camp out with us for a couple of nights.
I was downloading the photos from my camera and realized that we must have really been in vacation mode as we hardly took any photos, I guess I'll have to download photos from everyone else who was out there. But here are a few pics that we did take.
Bailey (Scott's Mom & Dad's Dog) checking out the drift wood on the beach. He was so much fun to have at the lake, he got a lot of swimming done, there usually was someone there to throw a stick for him.
Scott's mom and dad's boat - it was great that they brought it down for the week. The lake was flat clam for almost all of the time we were out there until a huge storm blew up on Thursday night and we were very grateful that Scott and his friend Blaine took the time to create a mooring buoy for the boatWe were sitting one morning on the beach and noticed something small swimming in the lake, once it got closer we got to see that it was a big frog. It hung out in the shallow water for quite a while before swimming away.Thursday we took a day trip up to Ainsworth to visit Cody Caves Provincial Park. Scott and I had never gotten up there to check it out yet. We all (Scott & I and his Mom & Dad) took a tour a 1 hour spelunking tour of the cave. It was very cool, both neat and temperature wise (only 6 degrees C). I did not to bad scrambling up and over water falls and through tight spots, I am just not as agile and flexible as I once was a few months ago. The tour took us about 130 meters into the cave, and I would recommend the tour to anyone who is physically able.Scott's dad exploring Cody CaveFriday morning - the view from our tent, the bay was quite protected from the waves and the boat you can't quite see, but it is behind the tree branches on the lower right. The wind lasted all day Friday but calmed down later that night and wasn't too bad for the rest of the time we were at the lake
