Guide Camp, June 12 - 14

We got to take the girls out to BP Camp (where Scott and I got married this past September). We had great weather and lots of fun. We arrived on Friday night just after dinner and then had to set up camp, just in time to have camp fire and smores... yummy!!

The water is definitely higher than it was in September - the rocks just off shore are barely visible

Saturday we spent the day further up the lake, we did a short hike to a light house on Pilot Bay. Scott and I have never gotten a chance to see the light house, so I made sure I took lots of photos.

After the hike we checked out the artists in Crawford Bay. At the Northern Woven Broom shop, the maker was making a broom, so the girls got to watch. The high light for them and for me was that this shop made all of the broom for Harry Potter. We also checked out Barefoot Weaving, where the girls also got a demonstration on how to weave. There were so many beautiful items in that shop, I'll have to go back later to shop. The girls also got to watch the gentleman make a glass paper weight at the glass blowing place, to bad the Kootenay Forge wasn't open, I am sure they would have loved to see a black smith at work.

Our last stop in Crawford Bay was the pottery place, no demonstration for the girls, but the lady there was very interested in the S.W.A.P.S. on their hats. SWAPS are Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere, and the girls like to make them and trade with other girls they meet. I posted a photo below of a frog SWAPS - I love this one and one day I'll have to make one to trade with the girls.

Here are a couple of my Girl Guides wearing their hats full of SWAPS
